The suburb takes in the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre, so a good share of the work here is consulting rooms and medical suites, alongside apartment common areas and the shops along Stirling Highway.

Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Perth Children Hospital and the Lions Eye Institute are all on that campus, with Hollywood Private Hospital and neighbouring aged care facilities nearby, and around them sit private consulting rooms and allied health practices in their own buildings and suites. Those rooms have their own requirements: colour coded equipment, clinical waste kept separate from general waste, and cleaning fitted around a patient list rather than a business day.

Along Stirling Highway near the Captain Stirling Hotel there are shops, restaurants and offices. Closer to the University of Western Australia the housing runs to smaller flats and student accommodation, while the southern half of the suburb is mostly houses. That gives three quite different kinds of property inside one postcode, and we do not treat them the same. A specialist suite, an apartment foyer and a shopfront each get their own scope.

A consulting suite cannot be cleaned while a patient list is running, and it usually cannot wait until the end of the week either. We work to the practice hours, which here often means early mornings, evenings or a weekend visit, and we agree the arrangement in writing rather than leaving it to be sorted each week.
